The Association of Former Agents of the United States Secret Service created The Foundation in 1973 to provide aid and assistance to members in need, as well as survivors of members in times of stress, financial difficulty or impoverishment. The Foundation also provides assistance to dependents of deceased law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the enforcement of federal, state or local laws.
Scholarships are offered to members and the children and grandchildren of members based on financial need, academic achievement and leadership qualities, however, none of the criteria is weighted more than another.
The Harry E. Neal Award, which honors a former Assistant Chief of the United States Secret Service, is awarded to local, county and state law enforcement officers who have performed outstanding service to the community. This outstanding service may be in the form of heroic acts or extraordinary investigations. For more information about these awards, learn more.
The Foundation has been able to provide over $1,000,000 in financial support since it was founded in 1973. Contributions and donations to the Foundation are the key to the continued success and availability of the crisis and scholarship programs. You are encouraged to consider supportive donations to an organization, which has done so much for those who have performed so unselfishly, without individual recognition.
The Internal Revenue Service has determined the Foundation to be qualified as a 501 (c) (3) organization under the Internal Revenue Code, Federal ID number 52-1035969, and it qualifies for tax-exempt donations. We gladly accept donations of stock, life insurance, gift annuities, bequests and charitable remainder annuities.
Checks should be made payable to “FAFAUSSS” and mailed to Kathy Rinkenberger, Executive Director, 6919 Vista Drive, West Des Moines, IA 50266.
